A new ruling, which comes into force in the UK on May 28th 2008. Will make, what is common practice for many businesses online, illegal! Falsely posting blog comments and reviews with the aim of misleading people into believing you are just a satisfied customer, when for example, you might be trying to sneakily promote your own business online.

It has to be said, this is an extremely common thing for people to so, even the very biggest companies have been guilty of ‘pretending’ to be something they’re not. From hotel chains that have created fake blogs by imaginary families, travelling around the country enjoying their amazing hospitality as they go, to large food chains who have created ficticious characters, obsessed with collecting their free gifts.

To me it seems just another example of our nanny state making decisions for us and letting stupid people remain stupid. How will society ever move forward and become more intelligent unless nature is allowed to take it’s natural course? Darwin’s theory of evolution is surely applicable here and who are we to stand in the way of that!!
